What's the difference between physical and chemical exfoliation?

Physical exfoliation uses granules or particles to manually buff away dead skin (like the pumice in this formula). Chemical exfoliation uses acids or enzymes to dissolve the bonds between dead cells. This product gives you both - the pumice provides immediate physical buffing while the enzymes work deeper for enhanced results. You get the best of both worlds!

Can I use this if I have sensitive skin?

This formula is gentler than many scrubs, but sensitive skin needs to be cautious with physical exfoliation. Start with once a week and see how your skin responds. Use very gentle pressure and don't massage for too long. If you experience any redness, irritation, or discomfort, discontinue use. For very sensitive skin, you might be better with just the enzyme exfoliation from our Glow Goals AHA Toner.

Can I use this with other exfoliating products?

Not on the same night! If you use AHA/BHA toners, retinol, or other exfoliating treatments, use those on different nights than this scrub to avoid over-exfoliation. For example, use this scrub Monday and Thursday, and use your AHA toner Wednesday and Saturday. Listen to your skin and space things out.

Can I use this on active breakouts?

It's best to avoid areas with active, inflamed breakouts as the physical exfoliation might irritate them further. You can use it on the rest of your face, just carefully avoiding the irritated areas. Once breakouts heal, regular exfoliation can help prevent new ones and fade post-blemish marks.

Should I use this before or after cleansing?

After cleansing! Always cleanse first to remove makeup, sunscreen, and surface dirt. Then use this exfoliator on clean, damp skin for maximum effectiveness.

Can I use this around my eyes?

No, avoid the delicate eye area. The skin there is too thin and sensitive for physical exfoliation. Stop about half an inch below your eyes and don't get too close to your lash line.
